Speech and Language

In order to foster effective communication within our school, we continue to develop a ‘Communication-Supportive School’ where staff are equipped to identify and support children with speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN) and we prioritise the following key objectives:

Upskilling Staff: Staff receive comprehensive training, ensuring they feel confident in recognising and addressing the needs of children with SLCN. This training includes evidence-based strategies and resources to support effective intervention.
Empowering Parents: Engage parents as vital partners in their children’s communication development. By providing resources and opportunities for involvement, parents can feel included and valued, thereby enhancing their ability to support their children’s communication and interaction skills.
Enhancing Children’s Outcomes: Focus on creating a positive impact on children’s communication abilities. By fostering an environment where children can express themselves confidently—both verbally and non-verbally.

Through these initiatives, we aim to improve the communication skills of children with SLCN, leading to better educational outcomes and overall well-being.
