SEND
Special Educational Need and Disability
Newton Blossomville CE School strives to provide an inclusive, quality education to all pupils across our family of schools, whilst promoting equality of access and opportunity to all areas of the curriculum. Our children learn in happy, exciting, respectful and supportive environments, providing them with the knowledge and cultural capital needed to succeed in life. We are committed to meeting the needs of all pupils, including those with special educational needs, encouraging all children to fulfil their full potential, whilst embracing children’s individual talents and needs. There is a shared expectation that all pupils, regardless of their specific needs, should be offered inclusive teaching which will enable them to make the best possible progress in school and feel that they are a valued member of the wider school community.
There are some children who may require additional support during their school life and the VFS offers a range of additional provision to support children across all areas of need. Children may join us with SEND already identified and others may be identified as potentially needing support.
A systematic approach is essential within our village schools, with processes in place to ensure continuity of provision. The Government’s SEND Code of Practice (2014), provides the framework for these processes and the VSF’s SEN Policy is written to reflect Government policy in the Code of Practice and clearly outlines the processes in place.
Additionally, the Local Authority’s local offer is to enable parents and young people to see more clearly what services are available, communicating their provision for SEND.
Provision for pupils with SEND is co-ordinated by the school SENDCo , Mrs Adey Underwood.
