Our Visit to Crabby Spit!
Thu 18 Sep 2025To help us cling on to the summer for just a little longer we are reading the book 'At the Beach' by Rowland Harvey. This week we created our own 'Crabby Spit' where we built sandcastles, fished in a rockpool, bought ice cream from the Beach Shop and made lots of memories. We will be writing postcards to send to parents letting them know all about our trip to Crabby Spit!

Parish Newsletter
Sat 31 May 2025NEWTON BLOSSOMVILLE CE SCHOOL
Our school year seems to be whizzing by very quickly at the moment. It is hard to believe that in a couple of short weeks we will be in our final half term of this academic year. At the moment we are in the midst of a vibrant and enriching half term at Newton Blossomville School, and we’re delighted to share some highlights with everyone in our wider parish community. As a small school, we are extremely proud of the opportunities we are able to provide for the children. Trips, visits and enrichments are when small schools really do shine and the experiences we provide for our children enhance their learning, wellbeing and personal development.
Warwick Castle and Medieval Banquets !
Last half term, whilst our Reception children spent a lovely day at North Crawley School, playing and making new friends in a fun, and excitingly new environment. Our Year 1 and 2 children enjoyed a fantastic visit to Warwick Castle alongside pupils from across the Village Schools Federation. The day was filled with history, exploration, and shared adventures, creating memories that will last a lifetime. We also had a Medieval Day in school where we transformed the building into a castle, dressed up and became, knights, bakers, jesters, archers and we even had the odd dragon flying around! Please do visit the gallery on our website (www.newtonblossomvilleschool.org.uk/) to see what we got up to.Local Discovery and History
We began this half term concluding our mini river project by comparing our own River Great Ouse with the Grand Union Canal. A trip to Stoke Bruerne Canal Museum brought this learning to life, including a boat trip on ‘Charlie’ into the mouth of the historic Blisworth Tunnel – a truly memorable experience! On the way back, we visited Newton Lodge Farm for a picnic, met some very friendly lambs, and listened to farmyard stories read by Paul Dorney from Milton Keynes Library. It was a wonderful day of fun experiences and learning.Sharing Our Learning
We are now enjoying our new topic, “Where is Africa?” This will lead into a wider exploration of the continent next half term, and the children are already full of questions and curiosity. We are very excited to be joining our friends from Stoke Goldington School for a trip to Tycross Zoo to see the animals we will have been learning about in real life. We will also be spending a day at North Crawley school working with some African Drummers exploring music from another culture.Looking Ahead
The coming weeks will be full of sunshine, sports days, outdoor learning, and picnics. We’re so lucky to be able to make the most of our beautiful surroundings and to offer such a rich variety of experiences – one of the many joys of being a small village school.Supporting Our Learning Spaces
We’re incredibly grateful for the recent support we’ve received. Thanks to a generous donation from the Farrer Trust, we’ve upgraded our construction area. And with help from the Friends of Newton Blossomville School (FONS), we’ve also refreshed our maths area. These improvements are making a big difference to the children’s daily learning experiences.Thank you to everyone in our parish for your ongoing support. We look forward to sharing more soon!

Stoke Bruerne and Newton Lodge Farm!
Fri 25 Apr 2025Last half term at Newton Blossomville we have been looking at our local river, The River Great Ouse. We are very lucky to be so close to the river and regularly enjoy walking across the footbridges and watching the river change with the seasons. On Thursday we had a visit from the Canal and River Trust who talked to us about staying safe when you are near water and then on Friday we travelled to Stoke Bruerne, Canal to compare our river with the Grand Union Canal. We visited the Canal Museum and had a boat ride up the canal and into Blisworth Tunnel.
On the way back the coach kindly dropped us at Newton Lodge farm where we had a picnic before exploring the farm and meeting the baby lambs. We even had Paul Dorney from Milton Keynes Library meet us at the farm and read us some wonderful farm stories.
A busy day full of fun and learning!

Happy Easter!
Fri 04 Apr 2025We invited parents and friends to join the children for an Easter Celebration. The children sang and read poems and prayers. We all enjoyed Easter treats together and the children and their families completed an Easter egg hunt where they solved puzzles and riddles to win an Easter egg. The sun came out for us too!
